I set a personal goal for myself this year to connect with my friends in person.
I've noticed that more and more, I rely on social media to keep in touch with my friends. And I'm not sure I'm comfortable with that.
Yes, I'm busy. We all are. But it isn't just that. I feel like I'm increasingly reluctant to reach out, to make contact, to connect like I used to.
I'm probably not overly unusual in this. But I don't want to become a lonely old lady.
So I've set a weekly goal of at least one face to face outing for a local friend, or phone or Skype for a friend living further away.
I'm hoping that, with practice, connecting with others will become habitual, natural, part of who I am again.
